The best place around for breakfast! The staff is great, always a smiling face, but they have no problem putting you in your place if need be, in that sweet, I am picking on you because I like you, kind of way. My kids love this place, the staff always greats them as if them coming in has made their entire day! The breakfast burrito is great. Stop in on a Friday night for dinner and free dessert!

Went here on a whim. It turned out to be awesome. Our food was terrific as well as the service. They had free cake on the way out and well you can't beat that!

Being from the country in Southern IL I love the feel of this place when I come to Michigan. It has a nice down home country feel and the food is excellent with generous portions. I come here a lot and will continue too

I've been wanting to visit this spot for quite some time now. It took me so long because the location is small and the parking lot always seemed to be packed. I'm rarely in the mood for a restaurant walk in/ walk out due to no tables being available. I've done this once in my life. I'll never do it again. On this occasion we were looking for a place to have breakfast with a friend. We were going to give Old House a drive by look see. Around 9:00 am on a Sunday morning we hit a "not so busy" window. When we walked in the smallness of the location was reaffirmed, but it wasn't as bad as I initially thought. We were greeted with a waitress with a smile and sat right away. The walls are covered with snarky signage and bumper stickers. The kitchen is out in the open as is much of everything. It's cozy and reminds me of the many of the restaurants Up North that have had to shut their doors due to the recession. The first thing I noticed after the decor was a very friendly man fast walking around the place doing a bunch of everything. He was filling up coffee... saying hello to the regulars, and I caught him effortlessly snagging a fork that fell to the floor. He was kind, a hard worker, and the kind of person I would want in my restaurant. I ordered the Popeye omelette, my Finance' got the Captain Crunch french toast, and our friend got your typical 2 eggs, bacon, hash browns, and toast. Our coffees were always full and we didn't have to wait long for the food to be up. During the small wait I took note of just how many regulars started streaming through the door. The gentlemen I mentioned earlier in the review seemed to know many of them by name and said hello to each and every one. The food arrived piping hot! As I'm not a fan of cold food I appreciated this. However I did have concerns about the melted cheese on my plate. It almost looked like they microwaved my plate before serving it. I can't be certain, but the melted cheese looked like it does when microwaved. Beside that potential concern my omelette was delish as was was the bacon and hash browns. I ate the entire plate! The one disappointment I did have was the Captain Crunch french toast. I was really looking forward to stealing a bite of this from my Fiance'. Come to find out they use the Crunch Berry variety which is fine, but I think Iw as expecting more and it was all and all a bit dry. I think I wanted it to be on Texas toast.... which totally could be something you can ask for and may help with the dryness. Our friend asked for her scrambled eggs well done. She said they were a bit too well done, but the waitress gave her the opportunity to have new ones made had she wanted them. We will definitely be back. It's probably one of those places that we'll always need a back up place for due to the size and popularity... but it's now on my short list. Well done Old House Family Restaurant! Fat Friendly Seating... Yep! Tables down the middle. Sweetest spot looked to be the table all the way in the back on the right.

I find the breakfast options priced higher than their two nearest competitors. Kitchen is a touch slower too. I use it as plan B when I need a change of scenery. The owners are nice people and one of them is often there working.

Lunch with the N's (nieces & nephews) I was given kid duty for my sister's big move on Saturday.. Yesss!! This little diner is within walking distance from home, and since it was such a beautiful day, we trekked our little butts up there for some lunch! First and foremost, we had really great service. A gentleman who works there was entertaining and attentive with the kids, even sorta playing with them, it was cute, and the kids really enjoyed him. I ordered a chicken wrap and the kids had chicken fingers, and fries, and salad. I also ordered a cup of cuban cabbage soup, and all the food was good. I'd say, we're definitely going back due to it's great service, low prices, and decent food!

Have wanted to check this place out, since about September, as I drive by daily & it is always packed. The menu starts off with the proclamation, "Waitresses with an Attitude" , what is this Ed Debevics ? Anyways, the decor is odd , as they have a collection of posters, plates & witty sayings, and no condiments on the table, you have to ask for cream, hot sauce & ketchup, and use your one napkin wisely .Yes even had to ask for a menu, as one is not provided when you sit down. The average menu that is available up & down Mound & Vandyke..with the exception of some unique breakfast burritos. I wanted to just order the basic 2 X 4 , and unlike every place else it is $5.50 + $2 for coffee no $2.99 or $3.99 2 X 4 here It was okay, nothing special, and I know comparison breeds contempt, but next time I will just go to the Flaming Grill , 1 mile south of here as it is CLEAN. Comfy & well staffed.

Food and atmosphere was really good. The food arrived piping hot and our drinks were always refreshed. I ordered the breakfast burrito and my wife got the Popeye omelette. Both were among the best breakfasts we have had in the area. The only complaint is that it was a really cold day outside and the heat in the restaurant couldn't keep up, also some of the decorations may be inappropriate for kids. Enjoy!

Our new breakfast place! Always very busy but we've never had to wait to sit down. The staff seems to know everyone that walks in which makes for a great atmosphere. Best biscuits and gravy I've ever had, hands down. My wife ordered the ham, spinach and Swiss omelette and said it was way too good not to finish. We've never ordered lunch but just from seeing plates come out of the kitchen everything looked fantastic. Great service, great food!

I've been going to Old House since I was I was little. Great atmosphere and even better people. Order the Kerry pita, it not on the menu but it's the best.

Good breakfast, fair prices, fast service, but noisy. noisy, noisy, and kitchen was the slowest kitchen in Macomb County! Had a coupon so went there but if I go again, it won't be on a Sunday afternoon.
